Carl Grace: Black and Gray Seminar

Description: Advance in your black and Gray! Carl Grace will go step by step explaining his techniques in creating a solid black and grey tattoo. Using examples of previous work, Carl will explain how and why the skin was entered using various set-ups. The use of black and white, techniques of creating smooth consistent light grays, the secrets that come from years of experience with black and gray tattooing. Everyone knows watching is the best way to learn, a short live demonstration will be held to further the knowledge learned. Question and answer session will be held during and at the end. Topics Covered: Building contrast, focal points, ful gray wash palette, solid black fill, realism, use of coils and rotary machines.

Description: How to Deal with Creative Challenges SHOTSIE WILL SHOW YOU HOW to deal effectively with creative abilities instead of feeling overwhelmed by numerous ideas, interests and projects. Work with creative resistance and dissolve creative ‘blocks’ Cultivate ‘flow’ and bring creative projects to actual completion! If you wonder about your creativity or are having difficulty manifesting your creativity into a successful and fulfilling experience, you are not alone. However, you may be the only highly creative person in your immediate environment. That experience can feel psychologically isolating. Shotsie will provide actual tools to help you through this process.

David Gluck and Kate Stone: Oil Painting Fundamentals for the Tattoo Artist
Date: Friday April 27, 2012 - 2:00 pm

Description: Professional artists David Gluck and Kate Stone will share their oil painting method by means of a slide show, examples of their work, and a live demonstration. Based on traditional painting practices, their approach is highly detailed and realistic. Oil painting as a medium is highly flexible, reversible, and allows for endless refinement. Although these aspects set it apart from the art of tattooing, the artistic insights gained from working in another medium carries over and enriches the abilities of any tattooist aspiring to improve their grasp on realism. Dave and Kate will focus on proper paint application, colour mixing, materials, painting stages, and will also share several tricks for obtaining a likeness with the subject matter. Demo will be followed with Q & A.
